Pressureless sintering of silicon carbide nozzles are widely used in abrasive blasting, hydraulic cutting and other industrial production industries. Wear mechanism of nozzle is mainly cavitation erosion. In order to ensure the effect of spraying and nozzle hole in use process no changing, basic requirement for nozzle is long-lived (wear resistance). SSIC has oxidation resistance, high hardness, high strength, good resistance to chemical corrosion, abrasion resistance, small friction coefficient, and high temperature resistant characteristics. Instead of cemented carbide, alumina ceramic materials, SSIC material as up-rising star is the most consumable, being next only to boron carbide ceramics. Due to the lower hardness, poor resistance to abrasion, alumina ceramic nozzle is used in small workload occasions although lower price. Practically, SSIC ceramic’ working life is 3-5 times of alumina ceramic in the condition of using a hand-held spray gun.
